Pre-flight update checks

Know which plugins survive a Minecraft update before you run it.

Updating Minecraft is the riskiest thing most server owners do all year. Pre-flight checks exist so you stop finding out the hard way.

What it does

On a server page in the dashboard, enter the Minecraft version you plan to update to. For every installed plugin, MCTotem tells you whether that exact plugin-version-on-MC-version combination is known to work, known to break, or unknown.

The verdicts are learned from real crashes and clean uptime across every MCTotem server. When someone else's server crashes on a combination, yours learns from it; when a combination runs cleanly for days across many servers, that counts too. The knowledge base contains no server or user identifiers, only the combinations and outcomes.

How to use a result

  • Works: proceed as usual. Take a backup anyway; you know this.
  • Breaks: hold the update, or update the plugin first if a newer version is marked as working.
  • Unknown: nobody has walked this path yet. Test on a staging server, or wait a week and check again.

Pre-flight checks are part of the paid plan. You can also run them from Discord with /preflight.
